Serial Wedding Crasher Steals Gifts in Texas

A woman has been crashing weddings in Texas and she’s been taking a lot more than free drinks, police say. The Comal County Sheriff’s Office says that the woman has been sneaking into weddings in and around the county by posing as a guest and then stealing gifts once all the guests are seated, ABC reports. Detective Scott Frakes tells KSAT that the woman, who dresses like a wedding guest and sometimes even mingles with other guests, has struck at least six times since November. He says she tends to concentrate on stealing gift cards. “It’s easy to grab up a stack of cards,” Frakes says. “Most people know you go to weddings, you’re going to have gift cards or cash.” Police, who released surveillance images of the suspect after tracking down purchases made with the stolen cards, have advised area couples to be “extra careful and cautious.” (Read more weddings stories.)
